Banksy fakes may be popping up in Paris France. Even a website, http://banksy-paris.com/ with the heading "Back To The Roots" sub heading " Paris was not tagged in one day"
and a youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RpSYfSEys0 has popped up. and even an instagram http://instagram.com/banksyparis#
Many speculations are spraying about. One email claims the images are real another coming from Banksy's agent claims they are fake. On top of that rumors are that Banksy is planning a Paris.
Will we see more of this? The work is very easy to copy if one is so inclined, even the political humor. Has the Banksy wave hit the beach? Now will his work become the joke that Banksy once poked at?
news and not news of the day. Art reviews, NWO to your neighborhood. food, politics, art and everything under the sun. Austin Texas

Greetings from Austin Mural New Message
by Owen Bay
Looks like the redone South Austin"Greetings From Austin" mural has a new message. Greetings from Austin Mural now reads more like $. Rumors are South Austin artist P$ allegedly did the timely touch up. See a few years back before East Austin became the secret (not anymore) cheap rent for artists and musicians, South Austin was the place.
Now Austin is one of the most expensive cities in America. Ask Lucy the welfare queen of KLBJ am how she survives here. Some say Austin has lost its cool. Some say Austin sucks. Man y residents are now being priced out of Austin. The artist that made this city special can no longer afford to live in Austin Texas.
Some artist feel lost in a city they loved.

Marfa Playboy Sign Sexy Art
by Owen Bay
theowenbay@gmail.com
Marfa Texas you have been soiled.
Playboy has recently obtained a lease on 6,500 square feet of land west of Marfa
Yes that's right, the magazine that promotes nude women for the sake of sexy nude women.
Corporations are people. Now they are artist. :(
Marfa is over before it began
Green Day See You Tonight from paul beck on Vimeo.
from Hyperallefric "Were it not in the name of “art,” which anything that is erected near Marfa is inevitably compared to and/or assumed to be. In conversation Joe Nick Patoski, writer and frequenter of the area since 1959, told Hyperallergic: “big art is great; big advertising, not so much.” It is hard to disgree with that idea. The beauty of Marfa isn’t necessarily in some untainted authenticity — the landscape is constantly changing — but it is rooted in some degree of isolation from the cacophany of 21st century life. Which is perhaps part of why Anthony DeSimone, a musician, chef, and resident of Marfa for the past six years, declined to saying anything to Hyperallergic except: “Worst thing to ever happen here. End of story.”
Just like SXSW in Austin Texas, Marfa will embrace corporate logos. $

Kind of perfect commentary of how sex and art are both re-staged as commodities. Is David Zwirner the co-sponsor of this ad along with Hugh Heffner?

Oh boo hoo what will the architects, old fart and new fart minimalists and designers do now that their weird snobby hangout has been tarnished.

Marfa residents aren't just "up in arms" about the issue of taste - though in my opinion the decision to erect this neon sign displays pretty poor taste - but there is a counties-wide dark skies ordnance. Less than an hour's drive away is the McDonald Observatory, where top-notch scientists conduct astronomical research on a daily basis. Residents and businesses of the surrounding towns of Fort Davis, Alpine, and Marfa have agreed to keep bright lights out of the atmosphere in order to limit light pollution. This big honkin' neon sign 40 miles away definitely violates this ordnance. It isn't necessary, it doesn't reflect the culture of the town or region, and it's blatant light pollution.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't been to Marfa in years, but it was the darkest place I'd ever seen at night -- absolutely gorgeous skies. And is this in the vicinity of the famous Marfa Lights?

The purpose of art in any form is expression! Despite however you feel about the Playboy connotation, which has always embraced the freedom of expression, the sign itself is a beautiful structure and very cleverly engineered. The sign was built and Installed by Ion Art, a sign and fabrication company in Austin, TX. They do fantastic work!

It is a glowing interruption to an otherwise dark and gorgeous countryside inhabited by people who like to see stars. Their freedom of expression is trampling on others freedom to see the sky - which is why people live in this area.

Some of us might hope that the juxtaposition of the "bunny" and the iconic muscle car is a comment on the archaic philosophy attached to the Playboy organization. Unfortunately, maybe it is only all that it seems. a gimmick.
-
wolfspider • 2 days ago
I'll bet there would have been fewer complaints if someone like, say, Jeff Koons had done this.

Let's stick a neon playboy bunny in your backyard and see if you ask who created the idea before complaining.. No, it does not matter who created the schlock - it's still schlock.

Someone like Jeff Koons did do this. Not quite as good, but definitely in the same mold.

Sonya Berg Tiny Park
Sonya Berg mixes
paintings and photos. By examining the ambiguity and origination via
retakes and variations, Berg creates intense personal moments
masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and
refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles. Her
paintings doesn’t reference recognisable form. The results are
deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible
interpretation becomes multifaceted. By applying abstraction, she
absorbs the tradition of remembrance art into daily practice. This
personal follow-up and revival of a past tradition is important as an
act of meditation.
Her works never shows the complete structure. This results in the fact that the artist can easily imagine an own interpretation without being hindered by the historical reality. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, she tries to increase the dynamic between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations.
Her collected, altered and own works are being confronted as aesthetically resilient, thematically interrelated material for memory and projection. The possible seems true and the truth exists, but it has many faces, as Hanna Arendt cites from Franz Kafka

James Artgallery and Uriels act of vandalism as art
Houston is having an art discussion on facebook.
Is Uriel Landeros the Rosa Parks of the art world? No not quite but he has made a statement. The remix art movement. D.J. Stencil.
Posts

What
you fail to see Houston and what a world class museum and three
galleries now see is ....Uriels act of vandalism as art.Uriel Landeros
has done what all aristis have been trying to do for the past 500
years, create a new form of expression or set themselves apart from the
masses of artists out there trying to be the best
surrealist,expressionist ,graphitti artist ect.those places are taken.by
making what he wants with your art and remixing it the way he feels it
should look like he has done what you've been failing at for quite some
time, myself included.this is probably the most hated concept of a new
style by artists mostly because they have to accept a change to their
personal art and ego ,not to mention it wasn't their idea . Stop trying
so hard artist, just let art happen and have the humility to recognize
it when it does.there is more documentry film coming out on this
subject.I am proud to represent Uriel and i believe one day you will be
as well, James Perez .

- Christopher Woods Why dont u suck his penis already. I like how u say world famous and put a whole three galleries. My boogers equate to more art than you or uriel the penis wrinkle
- Bridget Malone Now THIS is real art: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81054847/
- Jim Pirtle I have periodically read some of the posts and comments.... I keep thinking about Andy Kauffman ... I knew he was a performance artist/comedienne and just messin' with the medium. And if you got caught up in his wrestling with women is misogyny ... You...See More
- Pamcakes Galore Worst thing to happen to art since Guetta. Why the fuck is this in my status updates?
- Uriel Landeros Orale peoples, me spraypainting up other's art is creating "a new form of expression" like James says. Nobody has ever done this shit before now and jou juss can't handle how revolutionary my art is.
- Christopher Keeble So "conquista la bestia acepta los gatitos" isn't real and not something I should apply to my day to day life.
- Uriel Landeros Christopher, that shit should be jour mantra, ese. If jou go a day with out conquering a beast and/or petting a kitty cat...thassa wasted day, holmes.
