The way I see it, both of them were in the wrong and only the two of them know what really happened. Whether Zimmerman is guilty or not, the prosecution failed to prove their case.
There's two conflicting narratives and it's unclear which one is true. One side says "Z followed TM and shot him." The other says "Z followed T, turned back, T jumped Z and Z shot him." If the former is true, Z should go to jail. If the latter is true, Z should be let off. However, he'll get his if he's due retribut.
